Children's Continuum of Care

Children's Partial Hospital Program: Advanced Solutions for Kids 

Cherry Hill and North Brunswick

Currently offered only in our Cherry Hill and North Brunswick locations, this specially designed program is a partial hospital, day treatment program for children ages 5-12 who cannot function in the classroom setting due to severe emotional, psychological and behavioral problems. The program provides help for children with impulse control problems, depression, aggressive and/or self-destructive behavior. Issues regarding peer and family relationships are also explored. Child psychiatrists, licensed clinical social workers and nurses, master's level therapists and mental health counselors help the child to achieve the following goals:

  • Improvement of self-control
  • Positive expression of feelings
  • Healthier school and home functioning
  • Improved self-esteem
  • Development of constructive behavioral patterns
  • Utilization of school and community support
  • Restoration of academic self-confidence
  •   

     Program features include:

  • Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation
  • Customized treatment planning and family discussion
  • Group therapy
  • Education groups to learn about how to better solve problems
  • Medication management and monitoring, when necessary
  • Expressive therapies
  • Individual therapy
  • Home school instruction by certified teachers 

  • Intensive Outpatient Program Available in North Brunswick

Our North Brunswick site also offers an intensive outpatient program for children with psychiatric illnesses.  This program is a 3-5 day a week, 3 hour a day program starting at midday, after children have attended their schools in the morning.  Children may enter this program either as a step down from partial hospital or from an evaluation recommending this level of care.  Program features include the same components as partial hospital without the school component.

 Features of Both Clinical Treatment Phases (Partial Hospital and Intensive Outpatient)

  • Comprehensive evaluation by board certified psychiatrists
  • Licensed master's level clinicians and registered nurses
  • Patient- and family-centered treatment approach, with famiy therapy available throughout treatment
  • Consistent collaboration and communication with schools and other support services, as needed and authorized by patients and their families
  • Most insurance plans accepted, including Medicaid
  • Transportation is available (check with program regarding pick up coverage and areas)
